Tourism condemns targeting historical monuments in Hadramout
SANAA, Sept. 14 (YPA) – The Ministry of Tourism condemned the terrorist bombing, that took place on Thursday, on historic buildings and landmarks in the city of Shibam Hadramout, a UNESCO World Heritage City.
The ministry said in a statement that the bombing caused serious damage to the Royal Palace building, which is one of the famous historical landmarks in the city of Shibam, in addition to the historic Maarouf Mosque and neighboring buildings and houses of citizens.
The statement held the coalition of aggression responsible for targeting and destroying Yemen’s historical monuments.
The statement called on UNESCO and international organizations working in the field of preserving historical monuments, areas and cities, to press the coalition of aggression and its terrorist tools to abide by the international conventions of the United Nations to neutralize historical sites and avoid targeting.
The statement also called on UNESCO to play its role in protecting Yemeni cities and historical monuments and the formation of neutral international committees to investigate crimes of aggression against the civilizational and historical heritage of Yemen.
