Deputy Chief of General Staff meets Head of ICRC delegation

SANAA, Sept. 2 (YPA) – Deputy Chief of General Staff Major General Ali Hamoud al-Mushki on Monday met with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation for Yemen, Franz Rauchenstein.

They discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen in light of the continued aggression and siege, as well as the ICRC’s important role in providing services, health care and treatment to civilian patients in Yemen.

At the meeting, al-Mushki explained that the armed forces personnel deal with the war prisoners according to the principles of Islamic religion and in accordance with international humanitarian law.

He confirmed the keenness to provide all necessary facilities for the ICRC delegation to enable it to carry out its humanitarian role.

For his part, Rauchenstein said that he had visited the war prisoners’ prison in Dhamar province after being bombed by Saudi-led coalition aircrafts, confirming that he would work to convey the prisoners’ tragedy.
