UN envoy for Yemen condemns coalition airstrikes on prisoners in Dhamar
SANAA, Sept. 2 (YPA) – The United Nations Secretary-General’s envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths on Sunday condemned the Saudis-led coalition air strikes on prisoners of war in Dhamar prison.
Griffiths in a joint statement with Lise Grande, Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, called for an investigation into the bombing on prisoners, stressing that a justice should be achieved.
“Today’s bombing is a tragedy, the human cost of this war is unbearable. We need it to stop. Yemenis deserve a peaceful future. Today’s tragedy reminds us that Yemen cannot wait,” the statement said.
Mr. Griffiths said “the only way to end the killing and misery in Yemen is to end the conflict.”
