Yemen’s FM calls to investigate into coalition crimes against prisoners in Dhamar

DHAMAR, Sept. 1 (YPA) – Yemen’s Foreign Ministry renewed on Sunday its call to form an international committee to probe the fresh crime committed by the Saudi-led coalition air strikes against prisoners in Dhamar prison.

The minister said in a statement “targeting of prisoners of war is a war crime and a flagrant violation against the international humanitarian law.

The statement denied the coalition’s allegation that its airstrikes hit a military site, noting that the International Committee of the Red Cross was visiting the prison regularly.

“The coalition countries don’t only obstruct the prisoner exchange deal the UN-sponsored Stockholm Agreement, but they deliberately target prisoners in a number of places,” it added.

The ministry called the United Nations and the international community to condemn the coalition crime against prisoners and all crimes and violations angst citizens in Yemeni since 2015.

Earlier in the day, the airstrikes on a prison in Dhamar killed and injured more than a hundred of prisoners, who had fought alongside with the Saudi Arabia-UAE coalition in various fronts.
