Water Minister discusses with UNICEF providing fuel to water institutions
SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Minister of Water and Environment, Nabil Abdullah Al Wazir, on Tuesday discussed with UNICEF Head of Water and Environmental Sanitation Nassar Sayed the aspects related to the need to continue supporting to provide fuel for water institutions in the governorates.
The Minister stressed the importance of UNICEF’s vital role in addressing donors to the need to provide adequate support to provide the monthly amount of diesel allocated to the operation of water institutions.
Al Wazir noted that the cessation of subsidies would have negative repercussions on the operation of water stations, continued pumping and sewage plants, and the spread of epidemics, including cholera.
The Minister of Water and Environment highly appreciated the efforts made by UNICEF in this regard, which reinforces the existing cooperation and partnership with the Ministry.
For his part, Sayed said that the organization will intensify its efforts to address donors with the importance of providing the required support for operational fuel for water institutions.
Sayed emphasized that UNICEF’s apology for providing fuel support to water institutions as a result of increasing demands from others or difficulties in delivering it will have a significant impact on the water and environment sector.
