Dozens of Southern Council militiamen ambushed in Abyan

ABYAN, Aug. 24 (YPA) – Dozens of militiamen affiliated to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council were killed and wounded in an ambush targeted them near al-Mahfad city of Abyan province, southern media sources reported on Saturday.

A military convoy of the so-called elite force was ambushed near al-Mahfad city while heading for Ataq city of Shabwa province to reinforce the elite forces there, the sources explained.

The sources added that the forces coming from Aden and Abyan provinces to reinforce the council’s militias in Shabwa have stopped progressing, while ambulance teams are transferring the injured soldiers to Modiya Hospital in Abyan.
