Report: 7 thousand assassinations, enforced disappearances occurred during former regime rule

SANAA, April 15 (YPA) – Interior Ministry in the National Salvation Government revealed the number of assassinations and enforced disappearances that took place before 2011 under the former president’s regime reached 7,000 operations.

No one can forget those dark and bloody stages, in which the criminal elements were managed and financed by the regime itself, as those operations included 138 assassination operations against journalists, dozens of academics, hundreds of military and security leaders, sheikhs and religious and cultural figures.

The ministry also revealed the number of assassinations that took place after 2011, during the term of the exiled, resigned Hadi, which amounted to 1100 operations.

In 2014, the assassination operations reached 264 operations, the ministry said, explaining that at that time it was difficult for officers, military and security personnel to go out in their military clothes.

Many academicians and social figures were forced to stay indoors as a result of the lack of security and widespread chaos in Yemen’s cities.

The ministry said that security statistics before the revolution of 21 September recorded 23 operations of smuggling from prisons for al-Qaeda elements and hundreds of convicted criminals.
