Supreme Political Council extends al-Mashat’s presidency for year

SANAA, Aug. 4 (YPA) – The Supreme Political Council at its meeting on Sunday approved of extending Mahdi al-Mashat’s presidency for a full year (three presidential terms) according to the Council’s internal regulations for the year 2016.

The Council confirmed that the extension period would start from August 24, 2019, to end on August 24, 2020, lauding the success of President Mahdi al-Mashat during the past stage and his ability to lead the country.

In the meeting, the Council’s members confirmed their support to the President al-Mashat so as to enable him to perform his duties successfully at all levels.

The meeting reviewed the challenges facing Yemen and the measures taken by the Supreme Political Council during the past period to overcome them.

The Council welcomed Russia’s perception about the security in the Gulf region and approved of subjecting it to further study and discussion for making complete observations on it.
