Gunmen attack Hadi-appointed Shabwa governor’s home

SHABWA, July 28 (YPA) – Gunmen affiliated to the so-called military police of the security committee loyal to the UAE in Shabwa province attacked the home of the governor appointed by the exiled Hadi government, sources reported on Sunday.

According to the sources, the gunmen opened fire at the home of the governor Mohammed Saleh bin Adio in the province’s capital city of Ataq, and the governor’s guard responded to the attack, which resulted in casualties on both sides.

The attackers were carrying out a sit-in in front of the governor’s house to demand their own rights, but they were met with marginalization and humiliation, which forced them to attack and storm the governor’s home, the sources added.

During last June, the province of Shabwa witnessed armed confrontations between security forces affiliated to Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) and the so-called “Shabwaniya elite forces” militias backed by the UAE against the backdrop of the latter’s attempts to control the public institutions of the province by force.
