FMs of Iran, Oman discuss developments in Gulf region

MUSCAT, July 27 (YPA) – Omani Foreign Minister Yousuf bin Alawi and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday discussed the developments in the Gulf region and the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Omani Foreign Ministry, Alawi and Zarif dealt with several issues of mutual interest, and the current regional developments, as well as suitable solutions that contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The Sultanate of Oman called on Iran on Sunday to release the British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero, and urged all parties to exercise restraint and resolve disputes diplomatically.

“The Sultanate of Oman calls for not exposing this region to the risks that affect the freedom of navigation,” Oman TV said on Twitter, noting that Oman is following with great interest the navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
