SANAA, July 23 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Tuesday praised the credibility of the reports issued by the International Crisis Group
During his meeting in Sanaa with the Group’s Chief Executive Officer Robert Malley and his accompanying delegation, President al-Mashat affirmed that the position of the Republic of Yemen is with peace since the first day of aggression.
“We have no agenda but to stop the aggression and to respect the sovereignty and independence of Yemen,” the President said.
The President confirmed the full readiness to stop rocketry and air attacks in exchange for similar steps by the Saudi-led aggression coalition and facilitating the access of basic aid through seaports, and then entering into a political process in calm atmospheres.
He referred that the army and popular committees had unilaterally implemented nearly half of the commitments in Hodeidah agreement , while the other party did not implement any step.
“Since the beginning of the aggression, we have been and continue to welcome the cessation of the war,” the President said addressing the delegation. “We do not want to continue the war except in defense of ourselves and thus we are closer to peace than you think.”
President al-Mashat explained that the problem of the aggression forces (the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE and mercenaries) is that each party has its own agenda. “The most dangerous is that some parties see that they will be affected by the cessation of hostilities, especially those investing in arms trade.”
He stressed that Yemen does not accept the American and Israeli presence on its borders, and that the aggression countries must know that Yemen is a country with sovereignty and is not subject to anyone.
The President confirmed at the same time that there is no mind in discussing what the Group’s delegation put forward about the possibility of launching a Yemeni-Saudi dialogue to achieve a just peace for all.
He noted that the recent period witnessed the return of large numbers of the misled people and leaders who were involved in ranks of the aggression, and now they practice their normal lives and enjoy security and stability.
