Israeli occupation demolishes Palestinian homes in south of al-Quds

SANAA, July 22 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces began demolishing Palestinian homes south of the occupied city of al-Quds on Monday morning.

Dozens of members of the Occupation Police surrounded at least four buildings in the Tyre Baher area and a bulldozer began demolishing a two-story building that has not yet been completed.

“The occupation army has completely closed the area of Wadi al-Homs and has begun the demolition process,” said Hamada Hamada, chairman of the Committee of Residents of wadi al-Homs neighborhood, adding: “Wadi al-Homs is now a closed military zone.”

“The occupation forces are preventing anyone from approaching the neighborhood,” he said, adding that “more than 1,500 soldiers from the Occupation Army have been deployed around the area, accompanied by many of demolition mechanisms.”

He noted that “the occupation army is on the roofs of houses and present in the outer courtyards of citizens’ homes, and it prevents anyone to leave or enter their homes.”

“The Israeli Supreme Court rejected the petition filed by the village defense team and returned the order to the occupation army again,” Hamada said.

He said that the occupation army came on Sunday morning to the area, and carried out an operation to monitor the axes of the neighborhood and the occupying forces took up the high houses, in preparation for the deployment of its forces to start the demolition process, which began at dawn on Monday.

The Israeli occupation authorities gave the residents of the neighborhood until July 18, 2019, to carry out the demolition of some 100 apartments, which were approved by the Israeli Supreme Court.
