Socialist political leader survives assassination attempt in Taiz

TAIZ, July 18 (YPA) – Mohammed Sabar, a member of the central committee of Yemen’s pro-coalition Socialist Party, survived an assassination attempt by a member of a security checkpoint belonging to Al-Islah militias in southwest Taiz province, local sources reported.

The Socialist Party in the Directorate of Mashraa and Dahnan revealed that the leader Mohammed Sabar was attacked by alive bullets on Wednesday afternoon while he was driving his car.

According to the sources, a person named Walid Abdullah Mansour al-Sa’abi,[ al-Aari] fried at the political leader Mohammed Sabar while passing through the general line linking Najd Kassim and Al-Nashma, in the area of Al-Qara’a; near a point called a Tahesh point.

The socialist party described the attempt to kill cowardly act, blaming the security agencies for the insecurity and their inability to control the gunmen.

The socialist pointed out that al-Aari, one of the Islah militias, had already been issued with arrest warrants by the prosecution, because he was involved in several cases, including the attempt of killing Ammar Ahmed Sabar in Najd Kassim market, where Ammar was riding in his car with his family, earlier.

The socialist leadership, under the control of the Islah militias over Taiz, has been subjected to numerous harassment, including attempted assassinations, house breaking and extrajudicial prosecutions.
