UAE militias in Socotra received Saudi weapons to counter Islah Party
SOCOTRA, July 13 (YPA) – Informed sources on Friday revealed new details confirming that Saudi Arabia had delivered weapons and military equipment to militias of the so-called ” Southern Transitional Council” backed by the United Arab Emirates, through the exiled Hadi’s government in Socotra Island.
The sources said that the UAE has previously sent military pickups to the militias of the security belt in Socotra, but the coalition-backed governor of the province of “Ramzi Mahrous” who is affiliated with the Islah Party ordered to prevent the delivery of these military pickups to the militias.
The sources confirmed that “the mediation of the Saudi leaders on Thursday, ordered the handing over of these military vehicles to the militias of Southern transitional Council ” which made it clear that the Saudi policy has begun to eliminate the Islah Party and Ali Mohsin al- Ahmar’s forces deployed on the island after it incited in the coming weeks citizens to go out in mass rallies against Islah party ” Muslim Brotherhood” .
The sources spoke of the complicity of officials loyal to the UAE-backed militias, led by the director of security of the province called “Ali Ahmed Al-Rajedhi”, saying that al-Rajrdhi “after he handed over the military pickups to the militias in Socotra he left Socotra for the UAE.”
“Socotra’s security director, provincial undersecretary Raed Nasser, and Deputy governor Abdul Gemayel Abdullah are working under UAE command, providing facilities for the security belt militias, working clearly and meeting with the UAE delegate permanently to spread chaos and create militia camps,” one of the source said.
Militias affiliated with the UAE-backed Transitional Movement attacked the port of Socotra weeks ago and clashed with militias affiliated with the Islah party, killing and wounding dozens.
Socotra has been witnessing mounting protests against the UAE-Saudi moves and pushing militias to spread chaos and implement colonial projects.
