75 dead, injured in trains collision in central Pakistan

SANAA, July 11 (YPA) – At least nine people were killed and 66 injured when two trains collided on Thursday morning in the city of Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab province, central Pakistan, according to Russia Today site.

Local police officer said at least nine bodies were taken out, while transporting 66 wounded to neighboring hospitals, four of them in critical cases.

Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said an investigation had been opened into the incident, while rescuers were still working on the site to recover more casualties.

Trains are common in Pakistan, which inherited a rail network from the British colonial period, but specialists say corruption and mismanagement are widespread.
