Head of national delegation meets UN envoy

MUSCAT, July 4 (YPA) – Head of the national negotiating delegation Mohammed Abdulsalam on Thursday met in the Omani capital of Muscat UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and his accompanying team.

During the meeting, they discussed the political, humanitarian and economic situation, as well as the efforts to overcome obstacles created by Hadi’s Riyadh-backed government following the progress achieved in Hodeidah through unilateral redeployment in ports.

The meeting touched on the economic escalation carried out by Saudi Arabia and Hadi’s government and its impact on exchange rates, market stability and people’s livelihood.

Abdulsalam considered the economic escalation by Saudi Arabia and Hadi’s government a collective punishment threatens millions of Yemenis.

He pointed to the importance of benefiting from the initiative offered by the Supreme Political Council, which represents a practical implementation of Sweden’s understandings in the economic file.

Head of the national delegation confirmed the readiness to continue working on the files agreed upon in Sweden, which include the truce in Taiz and the release of all prisoners and detainees.
