Dozens of Saudi-paid mercenaries killed, 5 vehicles destroyed in Najran

NAJRAN, June 30 (YPA) – Dozens of Saudi army mercenaries were killed on Sunday during a failed infiltration attempt towards sites of the Yemeni army in al-Ajasher desert in Najran region, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.

The infiltration attempt lasted since Saturday evening until Sunday morning and was from three directions towards the Yemeni army’s sites in al-Ajasher, but was foiled and many mercenaries were killed and several others captured, the official explained.

The official confirmed that three military vehicles carrying mercenaries of Saudi army were destroyed with improvised explosive devices during the infiltration.

“The army forces backed by popular committees repelled a wide-scale infiltration of Saudi army mercenaries, accompanied by reconnaissance aircrafts, Apache helicopters and warplanes, towards al-Qathamil heights in al-Ajasher off Najran,” Spokesman of the army Brigadier General Yahya Sarie said in a statement.

Many mercenaries were killed and more than five military vehicles were destroyed during repelling the infiltration, he added.
