Al-Houthi accuses WFP of stirring up Yemeni street

SANAA, June 28 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammad Ali al-Houthi on Friday accused the World Food Program (WFP) of stirring up the Yemeni street by politicizing the file of aid to Yemen to satisfy Saudi and Emirati regimes.

“The program politicizes the aid file and seeks to stir up the Yemeni street against the government through sending inciting text SMS messages to beneficiaries,” al-Houthi said in a statement.

He explained that “the program, despite its admission that the obstruction that happened in Sana’a was for rotten food, but that it continues to declare the justification for obstruction to irritate the street against the government.”

Al-Houthi explained that “the program, despite its admission that the obstruction that happened in Sanaa was for rotten food, but it continues to declare the justifications of obstruction to irritate the street against the government.”

He renewed the proposal put forth two years ago to WFP, calling for “the delivery of aid in cash to the needy, so that no one will be able to block it.”
