SANAA, June 25 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtour on Tuesday discussed in Sanaa with UNICEF Resident Representative in Yemen Sara Nyanti the organization’s programs aiming to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy experienced by the country due to the aggression and siege.
The meeting touched on the process of paying the fifth installment of social security pensions funded by the World Bank through UNICEF, as well as the possibility of increasing the amounts paid to the beneficiaries amounting 1.5 million people to be commensurate with the large inflation witnessed by the country during the period of the ongoing aggression and siege since March 2015.
The meeting also dealt with the efforts made by UNICEF’s Office in Sanaa to support to the Landmine Casualties Association.
It was agreed to continue the discussion between the concerned government bodies and UNICEF on the common topics so as to reduce the catastrophic impact of the existing situation on the Yemeni people, especially the most vulnerable social strata.
