Head of Ethiopia’s Amhara State, his advisor killed in coup attempt

SANAA, June 23 (YPA) – The head of Ethiopia’s Amhara state and his advisor were killed during a coup attempt in their state, state media reported on Sunday.

Ambachew Mekonnen and his advisor were attacked in their offices on Saturday, state media added.

According to state television, a general in Ethiopian army is behind the attempted coup in Amhara state.

The coup attempt was orchestrated by General Asamnew Tsige, the region’s head of security, state media confirmed.
