UAE pushes its militias in Socotra to demonstrate against Hadi’s forces

SOCOTRA, June 19 (YPA) – The UAE on Wednesday pushed militias of the so-called “the transitional council” in Socotra Island, eastern Yemen, to demonstrate against the local authority loyal to Saudi Arabia.

The move came after Socotra province’s governor appointed by Hadi government Ramzi Mahroos refused the existence of the UAE forces in the island’s port and in the province in general.

On Tuesday, armed elements tried to seize the port of Socotra and clashed with the security and military forces, which resulted in the killing of a senior commander of the so-called “security belt forces” backed by the UAE.

The local authority loyal to Hadi in the province of Socotra archipelago, eastern Yemen, has accused the UAE-backed security belt forces of attacking the port of the archipelago.
