France sells two frigates to the UAE in secret deal

SANAA, June 9 (YPA) – Paris has sold two frigates to Abu Dhabi worth 750 million euros, the French newspaper “Le Parisien” reported on Friday.

The French newspaper “Le Parisien” indicated that France had sold two “Guinness frigates” to the UAE.

The sale of the two frigates came on the back of the signing of a secret agreement between the UAE and France’s Naval Group, a French industrial group specializing in maritime defense, in Abu Dhabi on March 25.

There was no official announcement of the deal, either from the UAE or French side until yesterday.

Earlier, on the basis of a secret document dated September 25, 2018, French radio revealed from the Military Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defence that the French government sold weapons to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and that these weapons were used against civilian targets in Yemen.
