SANAA, May 31 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that 4.7 million Yemenis suffer from acute malnutrition.
“The continuation of the war on Yemen and its impact on the country’s economy has contributed to the increase in the number of Yemenis suffering from malnutrition,” the organization noted said in a post on its Facebook page.
The organization explained that the conflict and the accompanying economic crisis “are among the main factors of food insecurity in Yemen.”
Of the 400,000 children who are malnourished there are more than 35,000 critical cases suffering severe acute malnutrition with medical complications, according to a graphic statement issued by WHO.
The organization said that it and its technical partner, the World Bank, are providing treatment for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition with medical complications.
