Military leaders in coalition-backed Govt loot over 367 billion riyals

SANAA, May 29 (YPA) – Military leaders in the government of the exiled Hadi have looted Yemen’s financial revenues of more than 367 billion riyals, official sources familiar with the issue reported on Tuesday.

The sources confirmed that more than 367 billion riyals of the income of Al-Wadee’ah port has not reached the Central Bank in Aden, over the course of the past four years.

According to a pro-Coalition website, huge sums of money went to the pockets of influential military leaders, including the leader of Islah party, Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, who is a deputy to Hadi, businessman Hamid al-Ahmar and his brother Major General Hashim Al-Ahmar, the commander of the Sixth Military Region Who was appointed by Mohsen to the Al-Wadee’ah border port.

This corruption takes place while millions of Yemenis are struggling to survive on a day to day basis due to the Saudi-led invasion and blockade.

Some of the leaders from the Southern provinces have demanded that the corrupt politicians be held accountable, and that the revenues of the Al-Wadee’ah port be collected and supplied to the Central Bank of Aden.
