SANAA, May 9 (YPA) – Director of the Presidency Office – Chairman of Board of Directors of the National Authority for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs – Ahmed Hamid on Wednesday stressed the need for commitment to relief of the displaced and the needy, as a basic goal of humanitarian action.
This came during a meeting, which included a number of undersecretaries of the Authority and representatives of the World Food Program (WFP), to discuss the problems of relief work and the requirements for the relief of those affected by the siege and aggression in all provinces.
In the meeting, Hamed touched on ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation mechanisms between the Authority and WFP, especially after the recent problems of discovering large amounts of moldy and expired food prepared for distribution in Hodeidah and Hajjah.
Hamed stressed that “the main objective is to provide humanitarian assistance in a humanitarian way that serves the beneficiaries rather than killing them by distributing moldy food and unfit for human use.”
He confirmed the readiness of the Authority and the concerned authorities in the State to address any difficulties facing the Program.
