FM, UN Envoy review efforts to implement Stockholm Agreement

SANAA, May 6 (YPA)- Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Monday reviewed with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths efforts to implement Stockholm Agreement on Hodeidah, as the first step in confidence-building measures to start political process.

The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of implementing the agreement, and not neglecting the issues of paying the state employees’ salaries and reopening of Sanaa International Airport to civil and commercial flights, as humanitarian issues.

Sharaf noted that the United Nations should immediately deal with the case of the floating tank “Safer” to spare Yemen and the region countries a major marine environmental disaster in case of leakage of oil reserves from the tank.

For his part, Griffiths confirmed the keenness of the United Nations to achieve peace in Yemen, indicating that all parties understand the importance of starting the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.
