TAIZ, April 25 (YPA) -The number of civilian casualties in the city of Taiz is escalating as a result of ongoing clashes between Saudi-led coalition rival factions, the al-Islah party and Abu al-Abbas Brigades).
“One child has died, and 31 wounded civilians have been received by hospitals supported by our organisation, after violent confrontations broke out on Thursday morning in the city,” Médecins Sans Frontières International (MSF) said.
“We believe that the numbers of the wounded are much higher because the wounded do not have access to hospitals and health facilities,” the statement continued
“Patients in the maternity ward at al-Jamhury hospital in Taiz have been treated in hospital corridors because of the partial damage caused by the nearby clashes,” the statement read.
“Access to health care has deteriorated dramatically for the sick and wounded in the city of Taiz due to the intensification of fighting inside the city.”
The international organisation specializing in the provision of medical services in conflict zones called on “all armed parties to ensure that civilians and wounded people have access to health facilities and to protect civilian facilities such as hospitals and markets from these battles.”
