Saudi king receives US Central Command chief
SANAA, April 15 (YPA) – Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz received the commander of the US Central Command, Kenneth McKinsey, on Monday at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh to discuss developments in the region.
The meeting comes a week after Saudi Arabia hosted a meeting of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Jordan in preparation for the launching of the “Strategic Middle East Alliance” which Washington has called for..
The meeting was attended by the Saudi side, Abdul Aziz bin Saud, Minister of the Interior, and from the US side, the Charge d’Affaires of the Kingdom, Christopher Henzel, and the Defense Attaché and the Chief of Staff, Major General Hagler.
The kingdom said in a statement quoted by the official Saudi Press Agency that “an important meeting aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region and the world”, while Egypt absent from the meeting, without providing reasons, despite their participation in previous meetings.
