KHARTOUM, April 12 (YPA) – The Transitional Military Council of Sudan on Friday said it would not extradite the former president Omar al-Bashir to any foreign court, as a commitment to Sudan’s values and heritage.
“Al-Bashir is held in a safe place, and will be tried and held accountable in internal courts,” said Lieutenant General Omar Zine El-Abidine, head of the political committee appointed by President of the Transitional Military Council.
“We will not extradite any Sudanese even those insurgents wanted abroad during the Council’s ruling, unless the next government has another opinion,” Zine El-Abidine told a press conference held at the Defense Ministry in Khartoum.
Head of the political committee acknowledged the arrest of all the executive officials of the previous government, confirming the Council’s keenness to work to achieve demands of the protesters.
He described the local and international reactions as positive, and that they would continue their contacts with the international community to clarify this change.
