In pictures: Civil disobedience declared in Sayoun in protest at Saudi presence

SAYOUN, April 11 (YPA) – Sayoun city of Hadramout province on Thursday witnessed a civil disobedience in protest against the presence of Saudi forces along with forces of the exiled Hadi, which stormed the city early in last week.

“Those forces have entered the city under the pretext of securing the meeting of parliamentarians loyal to Hadi’s government and Saudi-led coalition,” residents told Yemen Press Agency.

The residents expressed their rejection of the existence of those forces in the city.

Rights activists published pictures showing closed commercial shops and empty streets after closing main and minor roads and streets of the city.

The civil disobedience came as a refusal of any measures taken in the area on behalf of local authorities or in the name of legitimacy, the activists explained.

Media reported the so-called “southern transitional council” backed by the UAE has rejected to receive the Saudi forces and a number of leaders loyal to Hadi in Aden, which forced them to go to Sayoun city as the second headquarters.

On Wednesday, hundreds of citizens in Sayoun city and several districts of Hadramaut valley staged a large march, in which they expressed their full rejection of the Saudi presence under the cover of Hadi and his government.
