Washington names Khashoggi’s alleged killers, bans them from entering its territory

SANAA, April (YPA) – The United States has banned 16 Saudis from entering its territory on the backdrop of “their role” in the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Today, Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo openly named Saudi individuals for their involvements in the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, “The US State Department said in a statement on Tuesday.

The ban of access to the United States territory also applies to their families as well.

The announcement comes at a time when the administration of President Donald Trump is facing pressure from Congress on the backdrop of its inadequate response to the killing of Khashoggi.

Last November, Washington imposed sanctions on 17 Saudi employees against the backdrop of the case.

The names of those banned were as follows:

  • Mansour Abahussain
  • Naif Alarifi
  • Fahad Albalawi
  • Meshal Albostani
  • Thaar Alharbi
  • Abdulaziz Alhawsawi
  • Mustafa Almadani

  • Saif Alqahtani

Khashoggi was killed on October 2, 2018 after entering his consulate in Istanbul. Riyadh denied at first stage a murder at the consulate, and then talked about an operation carried out by security agents “outside the framework of their powers.”

The kingdom has dismissed officials from their posts, some of them close to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The trial of 11 suspects in the crime started at the beginning of this year before the Saudi judiciary.
