Emirati-Saudi ambitions include all southern Yemeni provinces: Lahj Governor

SANAA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – Governor of Lahj province in the National Salvation Government Ahmed Jorib on Saturday said that movements of the so-called “southern transitional council” prove that ambitions of the UAE and Saudi Arabi include all southern provinces.

In a press statement to “Al-Arabi” news website, Jorib noted that the suspicious movement of the transitional council being happening in the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Mahra after Shabwa, Abyan and Aden “has no relation to the south and its fair cause, but associates with ambitions of Emirati and Saudi regimes in Hadramout and Mahra.”

“All the transitional council’s movements in Hadramout have become more exposed than ever before and do not serve the southern issue but serves the UAE agenda, which has also become exposed,” said Jorib.

The governor explained that the UAE’s goal is to control the valley and desert of Hadramout after it has controlled the coast of Hadramout coast and the oil sources in the province.

“The UAE is seeking to tighten its control over peaceful provinces, which have never witnessed any confrontations, under the pretext of terrorism and terrorist groups run by Saudi Arabia,” Jorib added.

He called on all free southern forces to counter what he called “the new colonial project in the provinces of Mahra and Hadramout.”
