SCER discusses Parliament’s memorandum on vacant seats

SANAA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – The Supreme Committee for Elections and Referendum (SCER) on Saturday held a meeting in Sanaa to discuss the Parliament’s memorandum on the vacant seats and another memorandum from Education Ministry on the major and supervisory committees.

The meeting, headed by Chief of the Committee Judge Mohammed al-Salemi, dealt with the Parliament’s memorandum No. 14 dated February 13, directed to the Committee, which included a request for taking the necessary measures to hold parliamentary elections to fill the vacant seat of the 33rd constituency of Sala district in Taiz province.

The Committee approved the inclusion of the constituency No. 33 in Taiz province in the constituencies, in which elections would be held for filling the vacant seats due to the death of members, bringing the total number of electoral constituencies with vacant seats to 34 constituencies.

The meeting also discussed the memorandum of the Education Ministry on candidates of the educational sector to manage the supervisory and main committees, who meet the legal conditions and criteria set by SCER.

The Committee approved referring the memorandum to the legal sector and technical sector to complete the procedures in this regard.
