President al-Mashat, UN envoy discuss efforts to implement Sweden agreement

SANAA, Jan. 30 (YPA) – President of Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Wednesday discussed with UN special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths the efforts being exerted to implement Sweden agreement.

The meeting dealt with the developments in the humanitarian situation in Yemen and results of the UN envoy’s visit to Hodeidah.

In the meeting, the president hailed the efforts made by the UN envoy and his good offices to implement the agreement and alleviate the humanitarian disaster caused by the aggression and siege.

The president renewed the commitment to the implementation of Sweden agreement despite the intransigence of the other part and its disavowal of its obligations and its continued violations of the ceasefire agreement, the most recent of which was targeting of the de-mining team in Hodeidah.

The UN envoy thanked the president for the release of the sick Saudi prisoner, noting that this humanitarian initiative, which he said is an important step to work on the completion of the prisoners file.

Griffiths confirmed that he would continue his efforts to implement the Stockholm agreements, as a basic step towards achieving the political solution in Yemen.
