Head of NCP accuses coalition of obstructing exchange file of prisoners

SANAA, Jan. 17 (YPA) – The head of the National Committee for Prisoners (NCP) Abdul Qader al-Murtada accused the UAE of being behind the obstruction of the implementation of the prisoners exchange agreement.

Al-Murtada said that Emiratis and Saudis have taken many prisoners to detention centers outside Yemen in order to put pressure on Sanaa in any negotiation process.

The delegation of the National Salvation Government to negotiate the prisoners and detainees arrived in Jordanian capital Amman on Wednesday, after Jordan agreed to receive Yemeni parties in its territory.

In a statement to the channel “Russia Today” Al-Murtada said the delegation of the Salvation Government hopes to end the issue of the prisoners according to the Swedish agreement and guarantee all the rights of detainees and prisoners.

Al-Murtada earlier said that a team of the National Committee for Prisoners under his chairmanship had held direct meetings with representatives of the UN-sponsored Hadi government in an attempt to resolve the problems and obstacles to implementing the terms of the prisoner exchange agreement.

For its part, the Jordanian government stressed that it stands by all its means to resolve the Yemeni crisis and reach a political diplomatic solution between all parties leading to the alleviation of the conflict and the opening of humanitarian corridors for millions of Yemenis suffering from difficult humanitarian situations.
