Al-Houthi criticizes WFP’s allegations
SANAA, Jan. 1 (YPA) -Head of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has criticized World Food Programme’s allegations about the distribution of aid in some areas of the Republic of Yemen in which the programme threatened to stop supplying large numbers of people in need of food in Yemen.
The position of WFP was based on untrue procedures, such as the circulation of accusations, the failure to submit evidence, and non-communication through official channels, which shows that the aim is defamation, to serve political interests, not a humanitarian side, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said in a statement issued on Thursday.
He warned that it would be an attempt by the WFP to shirk its responsibilities in the face of the threat of famine in Yemen.
In a statement issued and published on his Twitter account, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called for the formation an independent committee to probe all allegations and charges, calling on the WFP to nominate his representative to raise a lawsuit in front of the Yemeni judiciary,
He stressed the right of the accused government body to prosecute the WFP in any Yemeni courts in accordance with the applicable law.
He further stressed that the position of the World Food Programme (WFP) is predominantly political, as the case with most organizations in Yemen is.
Al-Houthi accused the new advisers in the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen “of changing the distribution mechanism, especially those consultants were military attachés of the United States and Britain.
He holds the WFP responsible for any imbalances in the distribution mechanism of aid resulting from the no acceleration efforts of the cash relief which was agreed by the program and its resident representative.
Supreme Revolutionary committee chief further holds World Food Programme (WFP) responsible for purchasing quantities of rotten food that are not suitable for consumption and attempting to let them enter the Republic of Yemen, confirming that he has available documents and evidence for that.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called on the WFP and other relief organizations to disclose the reason behind preventing the entry of vessel carrying medicines to the country in 2018, despite the spread of deadly epidemics and diseases due to the Saudi-led aggression war on Yemen.
