Algerian government orders banning niqab wearing

SANAA, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Algerian government issues orders banning niqab wearing in the public governmental institutions, calling on the ministers to carry out the resolution strictly, local media reported.

The ban was decided last year but its implementation was delayed because the government wished to spare the education sector.

The authorities kept silent about the ban and it is expected that resistance will not be not as strong as is often the case in political decisions involving religion.
