STC cancels celebration of Oct. 14 revolution in Aden due to Saudi pressure

ADEN, Oct. 12 (YPA) – The so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) backed by the United Arab Emirates announced that it would not celebrate the 55th anniversary of the October 14 revolution, which was called for in the city of Aden.

Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (NTC) approved during its meeting on Thursday that a central event on the 55th anniversary of the October 14 revolution will not be held due to the difficult living and humanitarian conditions in the southern provinces, According to council spokesman Salem Thabet Awlaq wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He pointed out that council is dedicating its capabilities available to support the Council’s relief and humanitarian activities which target thousands of needy families in southern provinces of Yemen.

Political observers confirmed that the southern transition council is under strong pressure from Saudi Arabia, after resigning Hadi’s government waved to submit a complaint demanding that the United Nations end the mission of the UAE from its military operations in the war on Yemen.

They indicated that the decision to stop the event will contribute to shut down the voice in the entire southern provinces, and the Council’s leadership proved that it has no political decision, and that all orders come from the UAE.

The southern transition had called on its militias and supporters last week to launch a popular uprising to overthrow of the exiled Hadi’s government in Aden.
