Oman launches biggest military exercise in its history

SANAA, Oct. 2 (YPA) – The armed forces of the Sultan of Oman, began the implementation of the biggest ever  military exercise in the Sultanate’s history, which was called ” the Al Shomoukh 2 ” exercise on Monday.

“The military exercise will immediately be followed by  Omani-British military exercise called the Swift Sword-3 which will continue till the end of October,” Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, said in a statement

The two exercises will be concluded with a practical demonstration on November 3, and participants in the field will be trained on the strategic, operation and mobilization levels, he added.

He indicated that “More than 70,000 participants from the various military, security and civil establishments along with more than 5,500 British soldiers from the UK Royal Forces will take part in the exercises.”
