Sultanate of Oman plans to launch telecom satellite by 2024

MUSCAT, Jun. 28 (YPA) – The Omani authorities have announced a tender to design and manufacture a telecommunications satellite with the aim of launching it by 2024.

According to the Omani newspaper, Al-Dustour, the Satellite Telecommunications Technologies Company, one of the Omani Telecom and Information Technology Group companies owned by Omani investment authorities, confirmed a tender to design, manufacture and launch the “Omansat-1” satellite.

The operational plan of the Space Telecommunications Technologies Company is to launch the new satellite by 2024.

The mission of the satellite is to provide the frequencies in the (Ka) band with frequency reuse. The satellite will be of high capacity, and the planned coverage map will be regional, but with a certain level of flexibility as it can include some neighboring countries before adopting the final design.
