Islah’s leading member survives assassination in Taiz

TAIZ, June 3 (YPA) – A leading member of Islah Party (Muslim brotherhood) on Saturday survived an assassination in east of Taiz city, southwest Yemen, local sources told Yemen Press agency.

Unknown gunmen opened fire on Nabil Jamel in front of Al-Redwan Moaque in Souk Al-Sameel area, eastern the city, which led to serious injuries to Jamel and his driver, according to the sources.

Jamal was shot in the chest and he is now in intensive care in a hospital in the city of Taiz.

This assassination attempt coincided with the killing of two soldiers of the Special Security Forces in front of the military police headquarters, western the city.

Jamel was ex-director of Electricity Corporation in Taiz province, and he carries out most of mediation and truce tasks between the armed factions backed by Saudi and Emirati occupation forces in the province.

Jamel’s brother, Arif Jamel, is undersecretary of Taiz province, appointed by the exiled resigned Hadi’s government.

Taiz is witnessing security chaos and a series of assassinations targeted members of the armed factions, in light of the security services’ inability to control the situation in the city.
