Yemeni forces continue to advance in Marib

MARIB, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The north of Marib on Thursday has witnessed rapid developments on the ground in the course of fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Yemeni army forces.

Local sources in Marib province confirmed to the Yemen Press Agency that army forces and committees have made progress on the ground, during which they have been able to control some areas of the northern Al-Alam Al-Abyad front.

According to the sources, the army forces and committees fought during the last hours, the fiercest battles against coalition forces and elements of terrorist organizations, during which they were able to counter a major advance carried out by the coalition from the direction of Al-Ruwaik camp east of al-Alam and al-Kanays area from the west side .

The sources said that all kinds of weapons were used in the fighting, including anti-armor missiles.

The coalition forces used for the first time the” Raybolt Anti-Tank Missile” recently sold by South Korea to the UAE forces, while the army forces used homemade thermal missiles in addition to “Kornet” missiles .

According to the sources, the army’s drone aircraft bombed the coalition’s reinforcements coming from al-Ruwaik camp, which resulted in the destruction of an enter military  convoy .

Activists circulated on social media images of a military commander, Nasser Ali bin Aweyshan, calling on coalition forces and al-Islah militias to send reinforcements  to back his forces.

This comes after Yemeni forces were able to make more progress over the past two days, in the north of Marib city, and counter coalition forces’ attacks towards the outskirts of the Raghwan, Al-Nadhoud and Jabal Dahidah.
