Alwa’adu Alhaqqu Brigades claim responsibility for Saturday’s drone attack on Riyadh

SANAA, Jan. 24 (YPA) – Activists on social media posted a statement for a new group called “Alwa’adu Alhaqqu Brigades, or Sons of The Arab Peninsula, claiming their responsibility of the drone strike that hit Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday.

“After the Gulf states continued their crimes against the peoples of the region and continued to support the ISIS criminal gangs and other takfiri groups that have the blood of innocent people on their hands, the people of the Arab Peninsula have now fulfilled their promise, by sending drone planes to the Kingdom of Al Saud and destroying their fortresses in the Palace of Yamama and other targets in Riyadh,” the statement read.

“This is the beginning of the transfer of deterrence operations to inside the Saudi kingdom, in retaliation for the blood of the martyrs,” the statement added.

The statement promised that the next blow would be on what it described as “evil dens in Dubai” if the crimes of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and Abu Dhabi crown prince Mohammed bin Zayed continue.

The statement came in a written word that activists circulated on their social media accounts.

Saudi Arabia originally accused the Yemeni army of targeting Riyadh with a ballistic missile in the latest attack. However, the Yemeni Armed Forces on Saturday denied that they were responsible for any offensive operation against Saudi-led coalition countries this weekend.

Spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e pointed out that the Yemeni armed forces always claim responsibility for any operation they carry out with pride and honour, but reiterated that no such counterattack by Yemeni forces had taken place on Saturday.
