US House urges Pence to start process of removing President Donald Trump

SANAA, Jan. 13 (YPA) – The US House of Representatives on Tuesday voted to urge Vice President Mike Pence to start the US Constitution’s 25th Amendment process of removing President Donald Trump from office, although the vice president already has said he will not do so.

The move comes after Pence announced his refusal to activate the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, in response to a request by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday, giving him 24 hours to respond.

The House voted in favor of a resolution calling on Vice President Pence to meet with the Cabinet to call the 25th Amendment to impeach Trump by a vote of 223 to 205.

To activate the 25th Amendment, Pence and the majority of members of the Trump administration will need to declare that Trump is unable to perform his duties.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote Wednesday to hold Trump accountable for inciting rebellion against the US government.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced earlier today that she has chosen excellent people led by Representative Jamie Raskin to run the Trump trial, and that she will work with them.
