Trump: We don’t have press freedom

SANAA, Oct. 29 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump stressed that his country does not enjoy freedom of the press and suppresses the truth, stressing the need to repeal Article 230 of the Communications Law.
“The United States does not have freedom of the press, we only have suppression of the truth, or just fake news,” he wrote on Twitter.
“I learned a lot over the past two weeks about how corrupt our media is, and now the big tech companies may be even worse,” he added.
He continued, “Article 230 of the constitution must be abolished.”
Article 230 provides for the protection of companies operating social media websites from liability for anything published by a third party, as the idea was that such protection was necessary to encourage the emergence of new types of communications and services at the dawn of the Internet era.
The article was issued in 1996 as part of a law called the “Communications Etiquette Act,” which was primarily aimed at curbing Internet pornography. Most of this law was repealed by the courts as an unconstitutional violation of freedom of expression.
