Saudi fails miserably to apply cease-fire in Abyan

ABYAN, June 28 (YPA) – All Saudi efforts to implement a ceasefire between Islah Party militants and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in Abyan province have not succeeded.

Local sources in Abyan on Sunday said that commander of the first battalion in the so-called “the 30th Brigade Ahmed Abdu Rabbu Hudij, loyal to Islah, was killed and four other soldiers were injured in armed ambush set by the STC’s fighters in al-Mahfad district.

This comes in the framework of military mobilizations carried out by Islah party and the transitional council in Abyan province, which has been witnessing fierce battles between the two parties since July 12.

The STC’s militias and Islah militants are exchanging accusations of breaching the so-called “Saudi-brokered truce” for ceasefire in Abyan.
