Gunmen attack commercial stores in Aden to impose royalties

ADEN, May 20 (YPA) – Gunmen on military pick-up cars on Tuesday attacked a number of shops in al-Saylah neighborhood of Sheikh Othman district in Aden province, southern Yemen.

Eyewitnesses said that gunmen of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council attacked a number of shops in the al-Saylah neighborhood with the aim of imposing royalties on the pretext of paying “Zakat of Ramadan.”

Some merchants refused to pay these royalties, which led to the outbreak of clashes that caused the burning of a citizen’s car and the creation of a state of panic among citizens in the Sheikh Othman district, according to the eyewitnesses.
