UAE begins exploring for oil in Yemen waters

SANAA, March 11 (YPA) – The UAE occupation state has started measures to explore oil in Yemeni waters, as part of its efforts to dominate the country’s wealth, a Yemeni source said on Wednesday.

The source told “Al-Araby Al-Jadeed” TV channel that the UAE move came after it has managed to take over land, sea and airports through its military intervention in Yemen.

The sources indicated that Abu Dhabi located seven marine sectors to start drilling for oil there after being studied carefully in 2016, noting that four of these sectors are in Arabian Sea and Aden Gulf of, and western coast of Yemen on the sea Red, including sites in Rass Omran near Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Through its presence in Yemen for years, the UAE has attempted to control the oil areas in the governorates of Shabwa and Hadramout, in addition to the coasts and oil ports, using its militia to blow up oil pipelines, spread chaos and internal sabotage in the Yemeni provinces under its control.

On Sunday, the Yemeni government in Sanaa expressed its opposition to an investment promotion program launched by Somalia state for the promising oil regions.

The Somali program has included parts of the continental shelf for Yemen, specifically in the Socotra Archipelago, and it is believed that the Emirates behind Somalia’s movement on the archipelago.
