Shabwa tribes mobilize gunmen to storm Ataq city

SHABAWA, Jan. 28 (YPA) – A gunman affiliated with Islah Party was killed on Tuesday in armed clashes with tribes in a number of districts of Shabwa province, southeast Yemen, sources reported.

“Gunmen from Bani Hilal tribe attacked a military point belonging to Islah party militants in Ayyadh area of Jadrdan district with heavy and medium weapons, killing one of the point members and injuring others,” sources said.

The sources confirmed that Jardan’s tribes are mobilizing their gunmen to push them towards the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, to storm it.

In a related context, other sources revealed the outbreak of clashes described as violent between tribesmen loyal to the Southern Transitional Council and the Islah militants in Habban district, east of Shabwa province.

Earlier in the day, Islah militants launched a campaign of raids and arrests, which resulted in the killing of a woman during her peaceful response to the storming of her house in the city of Ataq.
