Saudi-led coalition bombs over 81 historical, archaeological sites in Yemen

SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – More than 81 historical and archaeological sites, including religious, Islamic temples and mosques, and historic cities were destroyed by the Saudi-led coalition and Daesh since the beginning its war against Yemen on March 26, 2015.

At least “19” religious figures from mosques, churches, doms, tombs, and shrines were demolished and detonated By “al-Qaeda”  terrorist group during the same period in Hadramaut, Aden, and other provinces.

Over 62 historical and archaeological sites have been completely and partially destroyed, dating back to different eras, According to a statistic issued by the Public authority for antiquities and museums obtained by Yemen Press Agency.

According to the statistics, 11 Islamic historical mosques and two religious temples in Sirwah and Nakrah district were “directly bombed by the US-Backed Saudi-led coalition warplanes and also targeted the northern bank “of the old Marib dam, which dates back to the eighth century B.C.

And over 22 castles and historic Forts were cracked due to Saudi-led conation bombardments.

The Saudi-led coalition warplanes deliberately bombed 17 complex, palace, ruins, villages and historic houses.

While the statistics showed the damage of 6 historic cities and the demolition and cracking of a number of buildings as a result of air strikes.

The Saudi-led coalition committed war crimes against the Yemeni people and destroyed its historical and archaeological sites and it popular heritage which is an apparent violation of the international law.
